Narrative

Birth - Glenda was born after Elsie had suffered two miscarriages. There was some debate as to what she should be named, Reuben wanted her to be called Cynthia, after the racehorse, Elsie liked Lois but Phyllis wanted her to be called Glenda after the filmstar Glenda Farrell (a comediene), a name she especially liked.

Employment - Mum has worked on and off all her life. Although dad didn't think that she should be working, she started at the TAB in Geelong around 1967. Mum was very good with figures and therefore suited the TAB.

When we moved to Camperdown 29 July 1967, mum soon got a job at the TAB there. This enabled mum to have some independance and allowed us to have a new Refridgerator. Back in Geelong I remember having the ice box and getting a block of ice periodically.

When mum and dad separated and finally divorced, she was working at Target in the Accounts Payable section. Mum finally retired on 20th April 2001.
